Chilly Start to the Day

This morning in Sioux City, temperatures are in the mid to upper 20s. However, when factoring in the wind, wind chills are in the teens. Throughout the day, temperatures will struggle to reach the 40-degree mark. There are two main reasons for the chill. Firstly, clouds are moving in, slowing down the warming process. Secondly, northwesterly winds are not bringing in any warm air, further limiting the increase in temperature.

Flurries and Wind Gusts

Flurries have been observed early in the day and are expected to continue into the morning and possibly the afternoon. In addition to the flurries, winds could gust up to 40 mph in the afternoon. However, these gusts are expected to gradually decrease in the late evening and overnight. During this time, mostly clear skies are anticipated.

Warming Trend and Changes Ahead

By tomorrow afternoon, the skies will once again be mostly sunny, and temperatures will climb into the mid 40s to low 50s. The warming trend will persist on the first day of spring, with highs reaching around 60 degrees on Tuesday. However, changes are on the horizon for Siouxland. Midweek, temperatures will drop to the low 50s, and by the following week, they may dip to the low 40s. Additionally, there is a possibility of more precipitation, including rain and snow, starting as early as Thursday. This unsettled period is expected to continue into the following weekend.
